A theatrical multidisciplinary show with original songs, masks, puppets, visuals, and live music!
This show, which premiered in October 2021 with support from a grant from NYFA (The New York Foundation for the Arts) as part of the reactivation of New York City after COVID, reflects the journey of a Mexican woman who leaves her country to start anew in New York City after trauma. In her new home, she faces additional struggles as an immigrant. Yet, through these challenges, she discovers her resilience, true power, and strength.
Directed and produced by me, Diana Sophia—a singer and songwriter originally from Mexico—this work features my original music, popular Mexican repertoire, and collaborations with other Latin American artists, including puppeteers, mask makers, video creators, and musicians. This show not only showcases my artistic expression but also represents my bilingual identity, highlighting the rich cultural tapestry of the immigrant experience.

The female character expresses the strength of her identity before leaving her native country.

The character recalls dark memories of traumatic experiences.

The character confronts the demons and deepest fears that lie in her mind.

The female character arrives in New York City with the Mexican folk song ‘La Llorona’.

Playing my song ‘Metamorfosis Sagrada,’ which means ‘Sacred Metamorphosis,’ this scene shows our character having faced her challenges and recognized her resilience.

In this scene, the gigantic puppet embraces our character, symbolizing her rebirth from Mexico to New York.

This scene celebrates the success of our character’s journey. She successfully adjusts to her new life, honoring her past, immigrant experience, identity, and resilience.
